This is an opportunity to work with us while attending The University of Glasgow, where you'll work towards a BSc (Hons.) in Software Engineering.

What you'll do


You'll be a part of the Wood Mackenzie Software Engineering team and work alongside our engineers to deliver the innovative solutions our customers demand.

You'll get experience working on the full-stack of technologies from React and Typescript in our front ends, to.
Net, Java and Node in our backend and data services.

You'll learn about agile best practise - understanding the best way to deliver software to a high quality.


You'll working collaboratively with your team mates using paired and mob programming, and contribute to the technical decision making in the team.

You'll study for a BSc (Hons.) degree in Software Engineering from the University of Glasgow.


Who we're looking for


We're looking for people who want to be part of a collaborative team, with a desire to create innovative solutions to interesting technical problems.


While it's not important that you've done lots of programming in the past, you'll be able to think logically about how to tackling a problem and be excited about learning how to implement solutions in code.

You'll take pride in your work and want to implement high quality solutions that solve customer problems.


Our tech stack
We use a wide variety of tools and technologies across our products Here's an idea of what you might encounter and be exposed to:

  • Our services are deployed to AWS,s using Lambda, ECS and Kubernetes with CloudFormation and CDK for infrastructure configuration
  • Our web products are developed using TypeScript, React, Redux, Apollo and ReactiveX
  • We have a shared component library implementing our design system
  • We implement GraphQL and RESTful APIs using NodeJS and NestJS
  • Our backend services are implemented in C# and.

NET

  • We run out ETL data pipelines using Python
  • DynamoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Clickhouse, and S3 are our go to data stores

Eligibility

To be eligible for this apprenticeship you must:

  • HNC/D: B achieved in Computing, Software Development, or Computer Games Development

All MUST include Mathematics:
Calculus and Matrices for Computing or have Higher Maths at B or above.

There are also routes through the Modern Apprenticeship (with Highers), the International Baccalaureate or international qualifications.

Anyone aged 16 and over with a right to live and work in the UK, and domiciled in Scotland by the time they commence their apprenticeship can apply.

Applicants must be eligible for Graduate Apprenticeship tuition fee funding from the Students Award Agency for Scotland, have the right to live and work in the UK and be domiciled in Scotland before the course commences
