- To work through and successfully complete a comprehensive competency booklet (minimum 6 months/maximum 12 months duration), under the supervision of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner team and a designated clinical mentor in order to become an autonomous practitioner

Trainee Band 6 Emergency Nurse Practitioner with progression to Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner upon successful completion of competencies.
With appropriate training, support and supervision, the post holder will be able to provide autonomous nursing practice to assess, investigate, diagnose, treat and refer patients by acting within the parameters of the NMC code of professional conduct and trust guidelines. To provide a service that meets the needs of patients attending the Accident and Emergency Department with acute minor injuries. This will involve the provision of holistic healthcare for patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations using extended nursing skills.
