We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable practitioner to lead the Wolverhampton ASC clinic under the supervision of the constellation lead (Dr Charlie Bamford).
We are an energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking team working with children and young people from ages 0-18. Wolverhampton CAMHS ASC clinic operates from The Gem Centre CAMHS Base. We have a MDT who assesses young people with suspected autism and we work in collaboration with a wide range of professionals from other agencies. We work closely with the core team and adhere to NICE guidelines.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will play a key role in leading the multi-disciplinary ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) team to provide quality ASD assessment and therapeutic services to children and young people.
The role will involve working closely with support systems to gather multi-agency assessment information and contribute to multi-agency panel decisions.
The successful applicant will have experience of chairing diagnostic panels and have a good working knowledge of the ICD 11 diagnostic criteria for Autism. They will need to be confident and flexible in exploring other hypothesis/alternative formulations for young people's differences/needs.
The applicant should have a good understanding of Neurodiversity and be able to link autism theory with clinical practice. They will need experience of developing services across the Black Country and working closely with commissioning, core CAMHS team members and multi-agency services.
Working for our organisation
The ASD team is placed under the umbrella of CAMHS. The ASD clinic has multi-disciplinary staff members, these include Therapeutic Assistants, Occupational Therapists and links to Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Paediatric teams.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The applicant should have experience of analysing the effectiveness of service delivery, meeting and reporting on KPI's as well as general reporting on clinical/pathway statistics.
The job role will include management and clinical supervision for the team and you will be expected to manage expectations of the referrers, families and young people. The applicant will need to possess clinical leadership skills and be confident in leading a team of professionals as well as being an ambassador for the pathway within other clinical contexts.
The applicant will require skills in using creativity and initiative in order to facilitate service development and play a key role in implementing positive change.
The applicant should have at least 2 years' experience at band 7 and prior experience of directly working within diagnostic pathways within a senior role.
It is essential that the applicant has additional training in diagnosing Autism and has completed relevant courses in standardised assessment such as ADOS, ADI R, DISCO and 3DI.
