  • Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.


Working with colleagues, you'll help deliver outcomes that benefit communities at flood risk and the environment and be involved in incident management activities.

Your role will include an overview of the development and delivery of FCRM projects.

You'll secure partnership funding and influence the work of key professional partners, help assess the risk to local communities and work with them to ensure these communities become more resilient, in line with the FCRM Strategy.

Other work includes Flood Risk Management Plans, providing planning advice and Environmental Permit Regulations work.

You'll need to be confident in supporting and representing the Environment Agency in engagement activities with communities and at strategic level meetings where you will be relied upon for your leadership and knowledge.

  • Partnership and Strategic Overview Teams (PSO) will work with all Lead Local Flood Authorities, other Risk Management Authorities and communities to design, develop, fund and deliver flood risk management schemes. We influence the location and design of new developments, to reduce flood risk to communities and help them become more resilient.

We work with Risk Management Authorities (Lead Local Flood Authorities, Local Authorities and Internal Drainage Boards) to better understand flood risk from all sources.

  • We're seeking a motivated individual with innovative ideas and a proven ability to lead and to deliver results.
Qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, you'll possess a proven ability in and/or knowledge of:


  • Flood risk this post, leading the PSO team, will ideally require knowledge and experience of flood risk matters.
  • Providing strategic leadership so as to influence and deliver outcomes, supporting the organisation to influence our work and also government departments/partners on FCRM issues.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent internal and external customer relations/interaction.
  • Working with others to solve problems, making decisions independently, managing extremely high workloads and deliver FCRM and environmental outcomes.
  • Prioritising and delivering work within a programme and project management framework to time, cost and quality.
  • Using political sensitivity when responding to the needs of customers, stakeholders and communities.
