Registered Biomedical Scientist Microbiology
Band 5
The department has an opportunity for passionate microbiologists at AfC Band 5 who hold HCPC registration.
Candidates interested in the Registered Biomedical Scientists role must be HCPC registered and have experience working in a Diagnostic Microbiology department, experience working in a UK Diagnostic Microbiology service would be an advantage but is not essential.
The Clinical Microbiology DepartmentThe Clinical Microbiology service is a comprehensive medical microbiology service handling in excess of 900,000 microbiology and virology samples per year.
We are a recognised IBMS training laboratory with a wealth of experience in producing highly skilled Biomedical scientists. The Microbiology laboratory is fully ISO 15189 accredited.We are a full 24/7 Microbiology service therefore staff need to be flexible and able to work on all shifts once competency has been proven.
Early Shift (in week blocks): 7am to 3pmCore Shift : 9am to 5pm
Late Shift (in week blocks): 12pm to 8pm

Under the direction of Senior Biomedical Scientist staff to:
Carry out all laboratory analyses associated with the post, including reporting results, maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
Participate in the department's rosters as required across all areas of the Microbiology service (Bacteriology & Virology).
Undertake quality control procedures, examine quality control results to identify poor performance and instigate appropriate action.
Remember that almost all applicants will have undertaken practical's/ projects within their degrees.
