    General All-Purpose Plastics (GAP) Ltd operates an extrusion site in Aberdare, GAP Homeline, and is seeking a technically proficient technician to join us


    Role Overview:
    We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will ensure the proper operation and maintenance of our extrusion equipment. This crucial role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.


    Responsibilities:


    Perform routine and preventive maintenance on extrusion equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues related to extrusion machinery and make the necessary repairs Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to identify potential problems and recommend appropriate solutions Collaborate with the production team to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise disruptions to production schedules Maintain accurate maintenance records, including equipment logs, repair orders, and inventory documentation Assist in the installation and commissioning of new extrusion equipmentTrain and mentor junior maintenance technicians on equipment maintenance and repair proceduresRequirements:Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar roleStrong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systemsProficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting Working knowledge of AC / DC motors and drivesExperience of heater control instrumentation and thermocouple controlExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and effectively prioritise tasks Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment maintenance in an industrial settingBeneficial experience:Pneumatics fault findingExperience with the extrusion processExperience working in a continuous improvement environmentThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a talented engineering team and open new avenues for career development as the site continues to grow.
