Are you a Safety Engineering Consultant who is looking to influence safety decisions across the lifecycle of multiple projects? If so, we want you to join our vision to save lives by ensuring our Military are equipped with capable, safe-to-operate equipment
Our Internal Technical Support (ITS) team provides support to a huge variety of projects from combat aircraft and armoured vehicles to submarines, body armour and aircraft carriers.
Joining this team will help you become a 'go-to' expert, through our supportive learning culture and your own drive to provide vital expertise helping DE&S manage safety risks across a breadth of high-profile projects.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities, will include, but are not limited to:
- Working on complex products, systems, and services
- Sourcing fixed priced technical consultancy tasks to meet customer needs and ensure they are delivered to cost, time and customer satisfaction
- Negotiating and deliver against a commitment to carry out accurately costed tasks
- Developing artefacts/evidence used in the assessment of safety risk, and consider the implications of changes to equipment design, offering mitigation advice in the process.
- Implementing and developing safety management systems for products, services, or systems, as either part of design or inservice support
- Utilising your exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to offer all the above services across multiple areas, including Maritime, Land, Weapons, Air and Submarines, ensuring that your solutions are understood and appropriately executed
Person specification
- Consultancy experience from within a heavily regulated industry (e.g. defence, nuclear, aerospace, oil and gas, rail). Able to demonstrate to SFIA Consultancy Level 5. (SFIA Consultancy competence). You will be expected to be a Member of Institute of Consulting (MIC).
- You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 (e.g., HNC) qualification in an engineering or science discipline, or will demonstrate equivalent relevant industry experience
- You will have demonstrable experience using a range of safety tools and techniques, to provide advice and guidance on complex projects, e.g., Hazard Log Management; Hazard Identification; Risk Assessment and As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) justifications
- You will have demonstrable experience in the development and writing of safety artefacts in support of compelling safety bodies of evidence
