    Description

    We are currently looking to hire an experienced Claims Advocate to support the Bermuda Casualty team in providing a first class claims service. This is an excellent opportunity for a Claims professional to really accelerate their career with the potential to travel to Bermuda in the future.

    The right candidate will be a driven, dynamic individual with high standards of professional endeavour, integrity, confidentiality, financial propriety and personal conduct. The candidate will be expected to behave in a way that upholds and promotes the good name and reputation of Ardonagh and treat as paramount the quality of service provided to the customer in terms of speed of response, frequency of communication and the timely presentation of documentation.

    You will be expected to deal honestly and fairly with fellow employees, customers, and others within the insurance profession and value other team members as colleagues.

    Take responsibility for own learning and development is paramount; keep up to date with developments in law and practice relating to own field of expertise; and ensure that all external and internal training obligations and requirements are fulfilled.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling of Casualty claims placed in Bermuda
  • Reviewing and analysing the overall claims portfolio and implementing efficiency and consistency of approach
  • On receipt of claim notification, identify risk, review details in conjunction with coverage/wording afforded, acknowledge to client/intermediary, prepare claims file accurately and promptly and maintain in-house and external computerised claims records
  • Building meaningful relationships with Clients, experts and insurers by dealing with them in a prompt, friendly and professional manner at all times
  • Flagging any potential contentious/difficult claims matters within the team and assisting with resolution
  • Producing claims information and presenting to (re)insurers, either in written or networked format; and dealing with any resultant instructions, queries and enquiries
  • Monitoring insurers' agreement and payment of funds and ensuring that payment is made to the appropriate beneficiary
  • Identifying any potential errors and omissions if situations arise
  • Ensuring relevant (re)insurer's instructions are notified to Client/expert and vice versa
  • Ensuring effective liaison with placing team, including, where required, the maintenance and provision of claims statistics for renewal or similar purposes
  • Ensuring effective liaison with accounting colleagues both in respect of collection/payment of funds, any queries and the subsequent clearance of accounting entries
  • Maintaining claims filing
  • Keeping up to date with market and system changes
  • Monitoring workload and reporting to management as appropriate

    • Generic Knowledge Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of casualty claims expertise in London and/or Bermuda Market, ideally working on US business
  • Sufficient knowledge and understanding of the relevant aspects of the Law of Agency and the Law of Contract to be able to perform the Principal Tasks
  • Sufficient knowledge and understanding of the general concepts of insurance to be able to perform the Principal Tasks
  • Good working knowledge of the Underwriters and markets, their practices, documentation and customs
  • Good working knowledge of relevant insurance and regulatory procedures.

    • Necessary Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3-5 years handling Casualty Claims, ideally US business
  • Ability to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

    • Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • ACII completion or working towards a CII designation
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Knowledge of Global XB and Brokasure internal claims system
