As Finance Business Partner for The AA's in-house underwriter, you will support the next phase of business growth and provide the teams with a "go to" finance resource.
You will strengthen financial control and further develop reporting and analysis whilst being very 'hands-on', giving you broad finance & commercial exposure, with the opportunity to develop underwriting knowledge.
This role will continue to evolve as necessary to support the needs of the AA's underwriting division.The Insurer has recently started to implement Anaplan budgeting software and this role would suit someone with strong Excel skills and keen to transfer this into a more robust planning model.
You will also be required to manage another member of staff who is largely in charge of financial control of claims and premiums numbers.
What will I be doing?:
- Finance business partner for the finance insurance division, provide an expert service covering a range of specialist financial, accounting and reconciliation activities, to deliver a high level of service
- Produce accurate, detailed reports, statements, and schedules in accordance with established timescales, to include actuals, forecasting, budgeting and cashflow and operation and maintenance of the supporting process
- Prepare monthly summaries of balance sheet in order to demonstrate complete reconciliation and ensure accuracy of the balance sheet.
- Actively steer projects as they arise including ICE automated BS reconciliations.
- Undertake accurate and comprehensive analyses of transactions supporting values reported, investigate any anomalies arising, correct and ensure that action is taken to eliminate recurrence.
- Manage the divisional budgets and forecasts for the three entities and ensuring there is always a view on the full year financials for P&L, BS and Cashflow. Produce monthly variance analysis and use this information to either steer actuals or improve planned assumptions.
- Train to use Anaplan and continue to implement and add more functionality.
- Personally deal with issues that are of a complex, technical or sensitive nature and which cannot be resolved satisfactorily by staff, or which management has assigned.
What do I need?:
Capability, Knowledge and Experience:
- Previous finance experience with extensive business partnering skills
- Accounting policies and processes knowledge and experience
- Data Gathering and Analysis
- Strong budget and reporting knowledge
- Experience of financial modelling
- Ability to engage with wider peers and foster strong relationships
- Ability to present financial information in a concise and confident manner to both financial and nonfinancial staff.
Education and Qualifications:
- This role would suit a part/newly qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA)
