Description
We are looking for a Head of Operations to manage a multi-site operation, working within the general engineering and materials sector, supplying Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial, motorsports and Marine.
The business is very well established and with recent investments propelling the business into other sectors has been rewarded with several key accounts.
The Role
- Involved with the planning, coordination and control of the manufacturing processes, you will ensure that goods are produced efficiently, in the correct quantities and at the right level of quality.
- This role requires an aspirational role model to develop enthusiastic personnel into highly competent team members and to identify the rising stars for good succession/workforce planning.
- You will bring a clear and credible management style and culture to Base Group and instill high quality management techniques into the Production Area.
- To be a role model for our existing Production Manager, leading by example to guide, train, support and develop their individual skillsets towards becoming an effective, efficient and accomplished operational leader.
- To support the Production Manager in recruiting, managing, disciplining, performance managing and developing a high performance production team, ensuring that company values are upheld and the operating objectives and standards of performance are understood and owned by all operational team members.
- Educate the Production Manager to effectively use management / analysis tools such as Value Stream and Root Cause analysis with their teams, empowering operators to fix problems once identified.
- To support the development of team leaders and operators through the Production Manager.

Person Profile
- SME Manufacturing / Multisite experience
- Results driven with a proven track record of operational management excellence (or World Class Manufacturing) and driving change and culture.
- Extensive experience managing a manufacturing operation is essential, including at least 5 years managing teams.
- Demonstrable lean and quality improvement experience with multiple examples of identifying and leading such measurable improvements over many years is essential.
- Experience working with Technical / New Product Development
- Leadership qualities with balance between management and proactive implementation
Education and experience desirables
- Lean Six Sigma
- Chemical or Engineering specialism. Experience of Manufacturing Composites and/or Epoxy/PU
Salary:
£65,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
