    Description
    Head of Junior Coaching
    Ashford Hockey Club has approximately 140 adult members and runs 9 senior teams. We run training sessions and organise matches for approximately 200 junior members. Our one Astroturf pitch is hired out during the week for both hockey and football.

    The grass pitches adjacent to our Astroturf pitch are used by Kennington junior football club, a local club with some 400 members.

    The Clubhouse is used by both the Hockey Club and the Football Club. The Astroturf pitch is also hired by local schools, a Soccer Academy and two Six a side football groups.

    Help us continue to put our junior section on the map We are looking for someone to take on the oversight and responsibility for our junior section.

    Supporting and working with a fantastic team of coaches and volunteers this role will be instrumental in AHC continuing to provide a thriving junior section.

    To lead and co-ordinate the delivery of junior hockey at AHC.

    Working across all age groups to ensure that the quality and level of hockey is of the highest level; that sessions are well run and slick and that every child has the chance to engage in and love hockey.

    Plan and coordinate a program that covers the fundamental golden thread approach to skills required for hockey, that can span the whole junior season.

    Assist in the preparation of the Club development and action plan, with particular reference to the development of junior players, umpires and leaders, and youth coaches and volunteers
    Oversee the recruitment and development of volunteer coaches for junior training sessions.

    Support the coaches in embedding the golden thread principles into sessions and help your fellow coaches do the same.

    Hold regular sessions with the junior coaches and linking up with both ladies and men's club coaches on a regular basis to ensure a consistent club wide approach to coaching.

    To ensure that junior development is properly represented at senior team selection
    Be aware of the Clubs policy on Safeguarding and Protecting young people in hockey
    Promote "good practice" and the EH code of conduct for Junior players, parents and team managers.
    Attend monthly committee meetings and give feedback about the junior section to the wider club community.

    Be present and organise junior events with the support of the administration assistant – for example - signing on day, end of season awards event, Christmas event.

    Help with the setting up of a young leader's program.
    Oversee the planning of pitch use for the junior training schedule.
    Be proactive in integrating the juniors into senior hockey.
    Be an active player in recruitment and linking up with local schools.

    Have a thorough understanding of EH youth approach and the 5Cs and why they are important for your players.

    Be a great communicator who wants to keep yourself and coaches up to date with junior EH best practice, rules and guidance.

    Recognise and nurture talent, helping parents and kids understand the England Hockey player pathway principles and routes available to help players reach their potential.

    You communicate with ease with young people, parents, other coaches.
    You ask lots of questions to help players understand and improve.

    You will be willing to commit to the important things like signing up to our policies and getting a DBS check.

    Hold an EH coaching qualification L2 or equivalent and have experience of working with juniors.
    First aid training
    Offer a suitable salary based on qualifications and experience.
    Help you create your own development plan, and strapline for the junior section.
    Support you through relevant training and learning.
    Support you to understand and adhere to relevant club policies and procedures
    to March 31st 7 hours per week on a 2 weekly rota as follows:

    Sunday 8.Sunday 11.Sunday hours maybe subject to change once a month when we have a tournament, notice will be given in advance.
