Our client is an established and growing provider of Endoscopy Services to NHS patients in the Bradford and Leeds areas.

We are currently recruiting for
2 Full-Time Health Care Assistants (HCAs) to play an essential role in the smooth running of the endoscopy theatre and help maintain excellent levels of care.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To assist with the administrative function of the surgical team including the accurate documentation of records.
  • To assist the scrub nurse and surgeon during surgical procedures and to accept training towards assisting surgeons in a scrub nurse role.
  • Monitoring and recording base line clinical observations.
  • Provide postoperative advice to patients.
  • Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed.
  • To assist with ensuring that clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the sister in charge.
  • Ensure sharps bins are secure and ready for collection.
  • Restocking of clinical areas and support areas.
  • To participate in audit where appropriate and requested.
  • Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the surgical team.
  • Assist the team to ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient's notes.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with the patient.
  • Assist the nursing team to ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, briefing and debriefing as required.
  • To assist in the management of surgical records and appointment systems.
  • To assist with the safe dispatch of specimens.
  • To assist with the safe dispatch, arrival and set up of surgical instruments, loan kits and equipment.
  • Be prepared to work across the theatre specialities including recovery and day surgery (acquired skills allowing), if required to do so, to meet the needs of the service.
  • Maintain an appropriate knowledge of, and involvement in, agreed strategies and programmes to continually improve their standards of clinical care through: Patient and user involvement, Risk and complaints management, Clinical effectiveness and audit programmes, Continuous professional development

Key Requirements:


  • NVQ/QCF Qualification Level 2 is essential
  • Minimum 6 months experience in endoscopy / theatre environments
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Able to assist with the assessment of care needs through data collection, observations, monitoring of patients progress e.g. BP, temp, pulse, respirations, O2 sats, pain assessment etc.
  • Assist in the safe transfer and positioning of patients and is able to manoeuvre patients safely using aids where appropriate.
  • Experience of maintaining endoscopy/ theatre stocks and supplies
  • Awareness and knowledge of current issues, protocols and policies of the surgical centre.

Centre is open 6 days per week, with 5 day employment contract.
