    Job Title: Staff Machine Learning Engineer

    Location: London/EU/California

    About:

    They are a disruptive ecommerce platform, operating in stealth mode with over $100 million in seed funding. Poised to be announced as a unicorn startup, they are set to revolutionize online shopping for the first time in over two decades. The ecommerce platform combines innovative methods inspired by social media, review portals, online dating, short and long-form video, and patented logistics technology. After five years of meticulous development, they are ready to inject machine learning and deep learning principles, recommender systems, and ad-serving capabilities into the platform.

    Position Overview:

    As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ecommerce by leveraging cutting-edge machine learning techniques to enhance user experiences, drive personalized recommendations, and optimize ad-serving algorithms. Working closely with a legendary figure in the field of Data Science, you will join a team of six senior-level Machine Learning Engineers tasked with building and implementing innovative solutions that will redefine the ecommerce landscape.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and algorithms to drive personalized recommendations, enhance user engagement, and optimize ad-serving strategies.
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product Managers, to understand business objectives and translate them into scalable machine learning solutions.
    • Research and implement state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
    • Mentor and guide junior members of the machine learning team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
    • Play a key role in building a world-class machine learning team, contributing to hiring efforts and team development.

    Key Qualifications:

    • Extensive 0-1 experience in designing, implementing, and deploying machine learning models and algorithms in a production environment from system level.
    • Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
    • Strong programming skills in Python.
    • Deep understanding of recommender systems.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering impactful solutions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated experience in building/helping to build high-performing machine learning teams.
    • Strong hands-on individual contributor.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Willingness to relocate to California within 6-12 months (relocation expenses covered by the company).
    • Eligibility to work in the UK or EU or US.
