    Supporting the Global GBM & CMB (Wholesale) and HR Data Legal team as part of the Bank's journey to digital banking is undergoing a comprehensive process of transformation involving the re-platforming of core IT systems, the rationalization of global data management and governance and the introduction emerging technologies which will transform the future state of the business and how the Bank's products and services are delivered. You will also be a key part of our EU Data legal team and will provide advice to the UK non ring fenced bank.

    We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Legal Counsel, Global Data Legal

    In this role, you will:

    • Provide data legal advice on the strategic approach for MSS, WSB and HR relating to HSBC Group's implementation of the current and future digital transformation.
    • Provide and manage the provision of prompt, commercial, practical and high quality data legal advice on global and regional digital projects and products, analytics and new technology uses
    • Clearly communicate Global and Regional GBM and CMB strategy requirements and management expectations to GBM and CMB global and local lawyers and business stakeholders
    • Co-ordinate and manage the approach to providing Data Legal guidance and support to the Global Markets, Securities Services and HR transformation programs

    Requirements

    iTo be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

    • Qualified lawyer with expertise in providing legal advice on global data privacy issues. You will be an SME in the GDPR, the UK GDPR and DPA 2018, and preferably hold an additional recognised data privacy qualification such as the IAPP CIPP/E or BCS Certification in Data Protection.
    • Extensive experience of providing data privacy and data related legal advice to major digital projects and change initiatives and delivering these effectively across a wide portfolio of requests
    • Ability and experience of working in an agile legal team with multi-disciplinary skill sets and multiple business stakeholders
    • Proven record of financial services product knowledge
    • Sound legal documentation drafting skills including experience of advising on data privacy aspects of financial services matters, including product terms and conditions, and client facing documentation.
    • Sound technical knowledge including experience of operating in a complex regulatory environment and within an operational risk framework.

    The base location for this role is London with Hybrid working
