- This is a senior leadership role sitting on the Divisional Management Team of the Membership, Policy & External Affairs (MP&EA) Division, reporting directly to the Associate Director.
- You will lead and join a dynamic and effective division, which performs a crucial role in the life of the College. As well as leading your own team, you will be responsible for setting the standard for and embedding excellence in conference and event management. You will have project management responsibility for flagship events such as the RCPCH Annual Conference, the International Paediatric Congress in 2025, regular membership ceremonies, Fellowship events and webinars. You will work closely with several teams across the College, Senior Officers, clinicians as well as external partners to produce successful events that meet and exceed the needs of our members.
- Within the RCPCH, this is a highprofile position balancing operational delivery and strategic planning. You will be a strong relationship builder, at ease working in complex organisations with a large number of stakeholders. You will be a compelling presenter with a solid events background and the drive and creativity to deliver cutting edge events. You will also be experienced in providing clear recommendations for action.
Responsibilities - Leadership and strategy
- Contribute to the development of the College's vision and mission, strategic objectives, and business plans.
- Develop and deliver a digital and face to face events strategy which supports the College's strategic plan and annual business plans, delivers results, and grows the College's reach and impact.
- Oversee the development, delivery, and measurement of a range of events to increase income, drive engagement, and lead in delivering improved membership satisfaction.
- Provide full and effective leadership and line management of the team, supporting, coaching and inspiring them to fulfil their full potential.
- Oversee all events budgets and ensure maximum return on investment.
- Budget plan, negotiate, manage and monitor contracts with key suppliers.
- Analyse and report on events, making recommendations for improvement.
- Take ownership of domestic and international events from planning through to delivery.
- Achieve revenue targets and regularly report on revenue and expenditure for each event.
- Lead project teams and chair events committees.
- Deliver high quality programmes.
- Implement engaging and successful virtual events.
- Manage the relationship with PCOs.
- Lead on the planning and delivery of collaborative international conferences e.g. International Paediatrics Association (IPA) Congress in 2025, working with all parties to ensure a successful event.
- Deliver major College conferences including the Annual Conference delegates), Fellowship events and Membership Ceremonies, ensuring there is smooth running and efficient preparation, working closely with other teams across the College, senior officers and the senior leadership team.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure impactful campaigns are put together to drive delegate registration and engagement with social events.
- Work closely with the Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships to drive more income from sponsorship and Exhibition.
- Oversee exhibitors and sponsors management.
- Provide an events support service to other areas of College work (e.g. President's dinner, Board of Trustees dinners), liaising closely with managers and senior leadership team as necessary.
- Research and deliver new event opportunities for RCPCH, helping to drive engagement and income generation.
- Source suitable venues.
- On Site event management.
Essential skills
- Degree level education or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in delivery of hybrid events
- Experience working with professional conference organisers
- Experience delivering conferences from start to finish
- Experience in exhibitor and sponsors management
- Experience working with a large number of suppliers
- Experience in budget management and reporting
- Experience in delivering webinars and organising roundtables
- Excellent leadership skills with demonstrable experience of leading a diverse team.
- Skilled leader, able to bring together, motivate, and develop a team.
- A collaborative worker able to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience of managing a range of suppliers from digital service agencies through to print suppliers.
