    An excellent opportunity has arisen for an individual to lead the Trust in expanding its career progression and apprenticeship service. Working as part of the learning and organisational development function, the focus will be on creating a culture of opportunities and development for our staff and local communities.

    Main duties of the job We're looking for a dynamic, inspirational individual who is forward thinking and committed to developing the service. Ideally you will have experience of managing a career service or apprenticeships or both.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the service and oversee the day to day operations related to careers and apprenticeships and be expected to be the specialist point of contact for managers and staff across all areas in the Trust. You will manage and develop members of your team and also contribute to the development and delivery of other initiatives within the broader L& OD team.

    We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in homes across Guildford and Waverley.

    We have received an overall Good rating from the CQC with Medical care (including older peoples care), End of Life Care and Maternity services being deemed Outstanding by the CQC.

    A video about the Royal Surrey - Job description Job responsibilities Reporting to the Head of Learning and Organisational Development, the post holder will provide expertise to facilitate the development, delivery and monitoring of the Trust apprenticeship programmes, ensuring there are high completion and retention rates and will support the wider L& OD functions.

    Core activities involve increasing awareness of the value of apprenticeships supporting managers to procure, design and deliver apprenticeship training managing the Apprenticeship Levy, capturing and analysing training data evaluating the quality of apprenticeship programmes monitoring outcomes ensuring compliance with funding rules and submitting returns to all reportable agencies.

    • Holds a teaching qualification or equivalent training experience
    Desirable
    • Holds a clinical/professional qualification and is registered on a professional register
    Knowledge and Experience Essential
    • Extensive knowledge of apprenticeships and career pathways
    • Apprenticeship Levy account management experience
    • Recent experience of being involved in the planning and/or delivery of training and development interventions
    • Experience in the delivery of induction, and training programmes for vocational staff groups
    Desirable
    • Experience of involvement with the procurement of training
    • Comprehensive working knowledge of school and other qualifications as pre-requisites' to apprenticeships pathways
    Skills and Capabilities Essential
    • Excellent verbal written and oral communication skills to convey information about careers and apprenticeships to internal and external stakeholders and present at various forums
    • Excellent influencing and persuasive skills to promote new careers and qualifications to managers and teams
