- Produceelectrotechnical drawings plant and material procurement lists andwiring diagrams for control for protection and controlsystems.
- Preparation of functionalspecifications and providing advice on procurement of plant andequipment and liaising with manufacturers to order plants as perclient specification.
- Be able to producedetailed specifications for high voltage plant equipment andancillary plant and equipment associated with high voltagesubstations.
- Review equipment manufacturersproposals and liaise with equipment manufacturers to ensureequipment suitability is in line with the proposeddesign.
- Production of equipment schedules inline with relevant IEC DNO ENA IDNO and clientbasedspecifications.
- Development and review ofsingle line diagrams P&C block diagrams &connection diagrams.
- Production of AC and DCschematic drawings control and protection cable block diagramsSCADA and multicore cable and terminationschedules.
- To maintain an electrotechnical andcommercial dialogue with suppliers andcustomer.
- Take responsible for ensuring goodtechnical documentation management and changecontrol.
- As a strategic thinker be able toresearch and simulate relevant technical and commercial informationto provide timely technical support and advice on the status of theprotection and control including plant designs being undertaken andwhere necessary recommend improved plant and equipment procurementand or methods ofworking.
- Possess aproficient understanding of electricity industry ulatory standards policies and their application to therole.
- A good understanding of electrical planttransformer protection relays and control and constructiondisciplines and current ENA BS and IEC electrotechnical engineeringstandards to ensure full application and compliance requirementscan be achieved.
- Should possess a strongelectrical knowledge within the contestable and noncontestableconnections sides of the market and should be able to demonstrate aproven track record working within projects such as substationconstruction cabling overhead lines while being fully conversantwith working on switchgear protection control and major designs ofelectrical plant including transformers.
- Goodknowledge of power systems renewable energy and protection designat all voltages.
- Ability to take a brief scopeof works and assist in producing a detailed design based onappropriate standards.
- Be able to preparesingleline diagrams for multi staged substations constructionprojects.
- Candidate will be educated to degreelevel or equivalent.
- Microsoft Office includingWord Excel.

The Plant Protection andControl Engineer has a vital role within the design team. He / Sheis responsible for the design delivery of substation plantequipment and protection systems across a whole range of electricalinfrastructures as well as new connection projects in both thedistribution and transmission sectors. This also includes solar andbattery energy storage related schemes.
They areresponsible for the detailed design and procurement of substationplant including switchgear power transformers voltage controlequipment protection systems protective relays connectors busbarsSCADA based telemetry as well as all the associated substationbuild activities throughout the lifecycle of theproject.
Their primary role is to ensuresubstation infrastructure is correctly identified and procured in atimely manner. They achieve this ensuring the detailed preparationand delivery of functional specifications equipment schedules andassociated scheme drawings. They provide ongoing technical supportand advice on procurement of plant and equipment by liaisingdirectly with suppliers and manufacturers to order plant andequipment as per client specification and approveddesigns.
