Job overview


The post holder will work as part of maternity clinical education team to support mainly student midwives in clinical practice.

The clinical educator must be a proactive role model who leads in the clinical environment on the provision of clinical education and assessment of competence in the ward, department and/or community setting.


The post holder will supports practice development, clinical education, workforce transformation and research and innovation in maternity across the Family Health Division to ensure the successful delivery of the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) Nursing and Midwifery (N&M) Strategy.

The clinical educator will also works to support the priority objectives of the Division.

Supports leadership and gives advice and support, fostering a learning culture that values high quality patient care, evidence based practice, research and innovation.

Ensures the highest standards of education, research, and clinical care are in place and in collaboration with the trust and practice development leads implements, maintains and evaluates systems and processes, which ensure standards, are maintained.

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Midwife with UK NMC registration
  • Diploma or degree
  • Evidence of recent relevant CPD
Desirable criteria

  • Masters Degree
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification / Possession of a Mentoring Course
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Completion of preceptorship programme (Band 5 Midwife)
  • Able to respond to problem situations and to ensure that effective escalation is followed
  • Demonstrates an ability to organise own work schedule managing time effectively and displays initiative
  • Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents
