DESNZ
The responsibilities for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero for 2023 are as follows:

  • Delivering security of energy supply
  • Ensuring properly functioning energy markets
  • Encouraging greater energy efficiency
  • Seizing the opportunities of net zero to lead the world in new green industries

For 2023, our priorities are:

  • Ensure security of energy supply this winter, next winter and in the longerterm bringing down energy bills and reducing inflation.
  • Ensure the UK is on track to meet its legally binding Net Zero commitments and support economic growth by significantly speeding up delivery of network infrastructure and domestic energy production.
  • Improve the energy efficiency of UK homes, businesses and public sector buildings to meet the 15% demand reduction ambition.
  • Deliver current schemes to support energy consumers with their bills and develop options for longterm reform to improve how the electricity market works for families and businesses.
  • Seize the economic benefits of Net Zero, including the jobs and growth created through investment in new green industries.
  • Pass the Energy Bill to support the emerging CCUS and hydrogen sectors; to update the governance of the energy system; and to reduce the time taken to consent offshore wind.

We lead on the UK's commitments to put our public services at the forefront of innovation, securing our long-term energy supply, bringing down bills and halving inflation.


You will be expected to play a key role in building a strong, high-performing, and supportive culture within the wider private office directorate.

You will also provide support to ensure the smooth running of the principal's private office.

You will be an integral member of the team to ensure that all key office processes work effectively and efficiently.

Diary Manager to the Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance


As a Diary Manager you would be responsible for managing the Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance's diary and being the face of the Private Office to external stakeholders.

You will develop a close relationship with the Minister to understand their individual preferences and react quickly to changing circumstances.


Your role is crucial to ensuring the Minister's priorities are delivered and that there is an appropriate balance between their Departmental and parliamentary commitments.


Key components of the role include:

  • Managing the Minister's complex diary, ensuring their time is balanced and reflects their priorities
  • Working closely with Private Secretaries in the team, Directors and senior colleagues to ensure effective use of the Minister's time
  • Working with colleagues in the visits team to arrange domestic and international visits
  • Liaising with the Ministerial Support Unit to collate information for Cabinet Office transparency returns
  • Holding a clear sense of the bigger picture and strategic direction of
    DESNZ, based on the breadth of policy portfolio and your access to the Secretary of State, Special Advisers, senior officials and stakeholders
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with teams throughout the Depa
