    Description

    Octavius Infrastructure rail business is evolving with some significant contract awards on long term frameworks in Southern and Western. As a result we are looking to enhance our engineering capability by recruiting additional Engineering Managers. Using our hybrid working policy these could base people from home and offices in London (Blackfriars), Swindon, Reigate to name a few.

    You'll be working on.... (what your role and responsibility is)

    In this role, you will provide comprehensive support to our Engineering Delivery Managers, contributing to the successful delivery of projects. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting Engineering Delivery Managers with project support activities.
    • Developing and maintaining Engineering Management Plan(s) for specific programmes.
    • Ensuring the utilization of competent engineering resources, both in-house and external.
    • Managing the delivery of in-house and subcontract designs, including design consultants.
    • Supporting project teams in risk management, commercial issues, and compliance processes.
    • Assisting in the appointment of design/engineering roles as required.
    • Reviewing and advising on design briefs, structural investigations, surveys, and monitoring.
    • Identifying and managing project interfaces, hazards, and temporary conditions.
    • Providing designer liaison, including design review meetings and progressive assurance.
    • Identifying stakeholder and discipline interfaces and reducing unnecessary risks.
    • Participating in value engineering meetings and evaluating added value options.
    • Providing constructability advice to permanent works and temporary works designers.
    • Assisting in the development of design programmes and optimizing construction activities.
    • Offering technical support to construction delivery teams and proposing solutions.
    • Leading the development and implementation of temporary works.
    • Ensuring effective processes for the development of assurance documentation.
    • Mentoring engineers, students, and graduates to promote professional development.
    • Facilitating knowledge sharing across the business, particularly in design and engineering.

    About you.... (what you are skilled at)
    • Proven experience in the delivery of civil engineering projects. Your previous/background experience will likely have been within construction and/or design and now you are looking to use your depth of knowledge in support of others.
    • In-depth knowledge of construction techniques and processes across, earthworks, earth retaining structures, RC structures, formwork & falsework above and below ground, including shaft construction, drainage, structural steelwork including bridges, temporary works with an appreciation of highway & railway specific disciplines.
    • Specific knowledge around implementation and/or design of temporary works solutions.
    • Practical and working knowledge of the procedures associated with the delivery of infrastructure works to meet the needs of key Clients such as Network Rail, National Highways, London Underground etc. in relation both temporary and permanent works activities.
    • Experience of the CDM 2015 regulations and how they can be implemented successfully to ensure the safe delivery of our project with a focus Design & Engineering.
    You'll bring... (your wealth of experience & qualifications)
    • Degree qualified civil/structural engineer; Chartered Engineer.
    • SMSTS (preferred).
    • CDM Regulations training and practiced in application.
    • Temporary works coordinator or experience in application.
    • Level 1 Audit qualifications (preferred).
    • LEAN advocate (preferred).
    • Behavioural safety training e.g. StopThink, Zero Harm, ELITE or similar (preferred).
