    Job summary

    We are looking for a part time receptionist tobe responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and theprovision of general support to the multidisciplinary team.

    Main duties of the job

    Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting, and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information, and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

    Job responsibilities

    Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be onoccasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent uponfactors such as workload and staffing levels:

    a. Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointment system

    b. Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments

    c. Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately

    d. Frontdesk duties, including correct procedure for arriving patients.

    e. Prescriptionrequests

    f. Signpostpatients to the correct service

    g. Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies

    h. Readcode data on SystmOne

    i. Photocopydocumentation as required

    j. Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired

    k. Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary

    l. Directrequests for information , SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLAforms to the Medical Secretary.

    m. Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner

    n. Carryout system searches as requested

    o. Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area always

    p. Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards

    q. Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
