    Description

    Zodiac Maritime is an international ship operating company providing a full range of management services for a wide and diverse fleet of commercial ships, spanning containership to tankers, bulk carriers to PCTCs, and a growing orderbook focused on dual-fuel vessels to improve overall fleet energy efficiency.

    Headquartered in London's bustling West End, our modern, open-plan offices accommodate a growing team of over 200 people. With representative offices across Europe and Asia, our shore-based headcount grows as our fleet continues to expand and diversify, as does our dedicated crew of over 6,500 seafarers.

    Position: General Fleet Manager - Crewing

    Reporting to: Director of Crewing

    Contract type: Permanent

    Overview of role

    As General Fleet Manager - Crewing you will be responsible for owning the safe, reliable and efficient management of a group of vessels within our group. We have a hugely diverse fleet which is continually evolving, so whether you have experience with Bulk, LPG, Oil, Product, Chemical, PCTC or Container vessels this could be your opportunity to build on and expand your knowledge and expertise.

    You will be part of the Crew Management team who together will be the driving force in ensuring we have the most effective and efficient Global Crew Operations team. Our success will be reflected through our highly engaged and competent leaders and teams onboard our diverse fleet. you are a builder who has the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and has excellent knowledge of industry requirements that impact our crew. You have a proven ability in driving changes through teams and successfully implementing these and imbedding the new processes and policies across the organisation and onboard our vessels. You have the ability to manage this through others, however you are also capable of rolling up your sleeves and getting more involved where needed.

    We are looking for an individual who is excited to be part of building our future crew strategy and the implementation of that strategy. Focussing on all aspects of crewing including sourcing, development, welfare and engagement with our global population of colleagues on board and at home who work on our diverse fleet of vessels.

    Skill Profile

    Relevant experience and education

    • Strong academic record with professional qualifications in maritime would be an advantage.
    • Demonstrated experience in a management role in shipping or other similar, is a requirement for this role.
    • Previous team management experience is a requirement for this role.
    • Commercially astute with proven experience of being accountable for cost saving initiatives and budgets.
    • Proven ability to respond to and review current and future trends and to adjust crew management strategies, systems, policies and practices accordingly.
    • A forward-thinking approach to crew management, systems and controls.
    • The ideal candidate should have an innovative and continuous development mindset, as we have an ambitious roadmap.
    • Results orientated; sets high standards of performance for themselves and their team members.
    • Highly effective at building and sustaining relationships at multiple levels throughout a global organisation. Comfortable operating in a multicultural environment.
    • High level of analytical skills and strategic thinking ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgement.
    • Strong leadership profile and willingness (and able) to "roll-up sleeves" and lead from the front.
    • Coaching and Developing Others: Advises, assists, mentors and provides feedback to others to encourage and inspire the development of work-related competencies and long-term career growth.
    • Flexibility to travel and respond to out of hours calls.
