    Withcommunity work spanning three decades Brentford FC Community SportsTrust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for thelocal community. It uses the power of sport to educate motivate andinspire people from all walks of life.

    Working inpartnership with Brentford FC the Trust offers a portfolio ofprogrammes in education health sports participation and communityengagement. The Trust has won the Football League Community Club ofthe Year award four times and now employs more than 100 members ofstaff. The Trust is forecasting further significant expansion overthe next two years following its appointment as a key partner inthe redevelopment of Gunnersbury Park as a sports hub and its moveto new larger purposebuilt premises directly adjacent to the newBrentford FC 17500 capacity stadium near Kew Bridge in2021.

    TheYouth and EmployabilityDepartment

    TheYouth and Employability department provides informal learning andengagement opportunities for young people to build and developessential life skills to support their transition to adulthoodengagement in their local community and employability skills forthe world of work.

    We believe in highqualityprovision that makes a difference in young peoples lives; we offera variety of personal social and educational opportunities foryoung people to engage in both group and 1:1 sessions.     AboutNCS

    NCS is a governmentfunded programmethat brings together young people aged 1517 year olds and engagesthem in a unique programme. NCS is designed to empower young peopleas they transition into young adults engaging them in activitiesthat challenge build confidence and develop skills. More detailscan be found at

    This year our NCS team will be:
    Taking over 400 young people on communityexperiences
    Partnering with over 20 community andprofessional partners
    Completing over 6000 hours of socialaction and volunteering

    The NCS community programme is made up of 3experiences delivered locally

    Phase 1 LifeSkills: The team of young people work together through taking partin exhilarating outdoor challenges and team building activities tobound and develop team work skills.

    Phase 2Social Action: The team will work together using youth voice andcommunity research to make a difference to the community in whichthey live. They will take part in volunteering and delivering theirown social action projects

    Phase 3Employability: This phase is about building and developing newskills and employability. Taking on team challenges designed topromote independence enterprise and help young people developskills to support them in the world ofwork.

    Programmes length will vary and will runbetween Monday to Friday.

    Purpose of therole

    The NCS Youth Team leader role is keyin creating a positive safe and memorable NCS experience for a teamof 15 17 year olds. NCS Youth Engagement Workers will lead inspireand develop a team of up young people through all phases of the NCSprogramme.

    NCS Youth Team Leaders will need tobe innovative and think outside the box. They will provide pastoralcare deliver inclusive curriculum sessions and support young peoplein implementing a social action project.

    Therole is suitable for a dynamic and confident person who hasexperience of leading motivating and supporting groups of youngpeople to successful take part in activityprogrammes.

    Main Responsibilities


    1.Lead inspire and motivateyoung people through positive and creative sessions and activities.

    2.Supervise and take responsibility forpastoral care and safety needs of the young people are always met.

    3.Plan design adapt and deliver assignedcurriculum sessions which include reflective learning facilitatingworkshops and youthled delivery. Ensure sessions are consistentwith the project themes and youth work outcomes.

    4.Build positive working relationships andsupport young people to work successfully and impactfully with keypartners including community groups venues and other providers.

    5.Encourage young people to develop teamworkleadership and communication skills and to reflect on theirexperiences.

    6.Engage and build positiverelationships with young people to provide effective supportmentoring and coaching on a onetoone and group basis where needed.

    7.Collaborate with the Coordinators to ensure aunited approach to delivering sessions and supporting the team.

    8.Be responsible for First Aid on the group andwith the group of young people.

    9.Support youngpeople with challenging behaviour and ensure our code of conduct isupheld.

    10.Ensure all activities and sessionsare adapted to include and meet the needs of all team members.Implementing inclusion support plans where necessary.

    11.To understand and comply with all policiesand procedures in line with Trust and contractual responsibilitiesincluding the safeguarding of the young people GDPR health andsafety and EDI.

    12.Support youth volunteersyoung leaders and assistant youth workers to work positively withyoung people and follow Trust policies and procedures.

    13.Ensure all administration tasks arecompleted accurately and within allocated time scales includinghandling personal data managing expenses and petty cashsafeguarding reporting and risk assessments.

    14.Work closely with the Manager Coordinators Youth Workers Coachesand community partners to support the young people onsessions.

    15.Attend regular supervision sessionsand compulsory training to enable all duties to be carried outeffectively.

    16.Work with other BFCCST staff todevelop youth voice youth development programmes and groups andemployability activity across other BFCCSTprojects.

    17.Any other reasonable duties andresponsibilities considered appropriate by the SeniorManager

    18.Work flexible hours including regularevenings and weekends whenrequire.

    PersonSpecification


    Essential:

    At least one year experience ofdelivering positive activities with young people (either in avoluntary or paid capacity).
    A Safeguarding and First Aidqualification or willingness to completetraining.
    Experience of inspiring and motivating youngpeople from a variety of cultural economic and socialbackgrounds.
    Experience of planning leading andfacilitating both group sessions and 1 to 1 activities.
    Experience of building a positive rapport and empathywith young people and adults.
    A proactive and adaptableapproach to managing challenging behaviour and supporting youngpeople with inclusion needs.
    Ability to lead and workcollaboratively as part of a team.
    An awareness ofcurrent socioeconomic issues and trends which may affect youngpeople in the areas we work in.
    Strong interpersonal& communication skills
    Ability to work in a fastpaced and demanding environment responsive to changingsituations.
    Ability to build relationships and workalongside partners (local and voluntary groups)
    Knowledgeof and a commitment to safeguarding health and safety equality anddiversity and data protection in relation to working in thecommunity and youth work environment
    A willingness toregularly travel within the allocated work areas.
    Awillingness to work flexible hours as this role will involveevenings and some weekend andcommitments.

    Desirable:

    Professionalqualifications directly related to working with young people andchildren
    Previous experience of NCS as a staff membervolunteer or participant
    Experience of working inpartnership with young people or diverse community organizations toamplify youth voice.
    Experience of working withstakeholders such as professionals community groups schools tocreate opportunities for young people.
    Good knowledge ofthe local area and demographics (Hounslow and neighbouringboroughs)
    Alternative professional qualifications directlyrelated to working with young people and children in a formal ornonformal setting
    Ability to adapt curriculum sessions tosupport young people with additional support needs
    A fulldriving license and access to own car.
