Accounts Assistant

We are currently looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant
- _Accounts Receivable_ to join the Accounts team of our award-winning business at Auchincruive near Ayr.

NEOGEN specialises in solutions for animal and food safety offering a diverse range of products and services for the agriculture, animal protein, food and beverage industries.


What you'll be doing:

  • Assisting with credit control. To include; routine letters and telephone calls to customers, regularly review customers credit limits, maintain new customer forms, review aged debtor list, liaise with foreign customer service staff for overdue invoices, provide copy invoices to customers, produce monthly statements, update on hold lists and establish relationships with customer accounting departments.
  • Setting up new customer accounts and using guidelines, allocating credit limits.
  • Routinely updating sales ledger accounts with contact details and correct default details. Dealing with disputed invoices and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Posting cashbook transactions.
  • Depositing cheques at the bank weekly. Assuming responsibility for encouraging customers to by BACS rather than cheques.
  • Answering telephone, redirecting calls and taking messages. Distributing incoming mail and processing incoming / outgoing mail.
  • Assisting visitors to the business, ensuring they follow correct procedures for signing in.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages
  • Knowledge of SAGE systems would be helpful although training will be provided
  • A qualification in administrative and/or accounts would be helpful.
