    Job summary

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working person to join our catering team in providing a high-quality service to all our patients, staff and visitors who use the catering facilities at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

    The post holder will provide support to the roles of the Specialist Dietitian for Catering, Office Systems Manager, the Quality and Compliance Manager and the Quality and Compliance Officer.

    Keeping our systems up to date with accurate information helps towards the department's goal of maintaining compliance with a number of standards and accreditations including the National standards for healthcare food and drink.

    The Catering Department utilises the expertise of the caterers and the clinical experience of the dietitians to ensure that patients receive high quality, appropriate and nutritionally adequate food. The Department is also responsible for the food service to staff and visitors through its outlets in dining rooms, vending machines and deli bars.

    Main duties of the job

    Maintain the food allergen information held by the department, ensuring it is up to date and reviewed appropriately and support the development of the allergen action plan.

    Assist with data input for the Catering Department's information system, ensuring the allergen and nutritional information is accurate and up to date.

    Support compliance with the British Dietetic Association's Nutrition and Hydration Digest 2023, the nutritional standards for patients in hospital.

    The successful applicant must be able to prioritise and manage their own workload and be able to work across sites.

    Education and Qualifications

    Essential

  • GCSE English & Maths Grade A/9 - C/4 or equivalent ( Numeracy / Literacy Level 2) or demonstrable skill
  • Higher education qualification in food/hospitality related subject or equivalent experience
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent experience
  • NVQ Level 3 Administration or Customer Care/IT or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience
  • Knowledge of Nutrition and Therapeutic diets including texture modified (IDDSI), cultural menus etc
  • Food Standards Agency allergen training
  • Desirable

  • Level 2 Health & Safety Certificate or equivalent
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Experience of computer management systems Manna (Catering Information System)
  • Desirable

  • Experience of food allergen labelling requirements
  • Manage workload and ability to work to deadlines
  • Customer service and communication with a variety of service users including external contacts
  • Skills and Knowledge

    Essential

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Developing excel worksheets and reports with departmental information
  • Computer literate, data processing, numeracy and literacy skills
