    Salary:

    Closing Date:

    Fri, 24 May 2024

We're looking for the next Financial Crime Consultant to join our team, this is a critical role, which requires a curious nature and meticulous attention to detail. If you want to be part of protecting our customers, colleagues and the Society then this may be the opportunity for you

    Who Are We?

Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

You will be joining the Financial Crime team which sits within a vibrant Group Risk function where you will have plenty of opportunity for career growth and personal stretch.

The team cover a range of tasks such as; providing financial crime guidance to the business, investigating suspicious activity, and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

We work closely with several teams across the Group ranging from the branch network - to gather further information on a customer interaction, to other teams in the Second Line of Defence.

    What's In It For You?

Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible. We have a newly refurbished head office which offers a vibrant and collaborative working space.

    We have a range of other benefits available to you including;

  • Annual discretionary bonus scheme
  • 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days
  • Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and sell additional annual leave days
  • Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
  • Colleague mortgage (conditions apply)
  • Salary sacrifice scheme for hybrid & electric car
  • A commitment to training and development
  • Private medical insurance for all our colleagues
  • 3 paid volunteering days per annum
  • Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups
  • We care about your health and wellbeing – we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership
  • What Will You Be Doing?

    You'll be:

  • Searching through hundreds of records a day to separate genuine cases of financial crime from false readings. Once you've identified a risk, it will be up to you to take the appropriate action and make an accurate record of your findings
  • Investigating the alerts our system generates when there's suspicious activity on our customer accounts
  • As part of the Financial Crime team, you'll assess those alerts to determine if the risk is real and take appropriate action if so
  • Things move quickly in the Financial Crime team and sometimes you'll need to drop what you're doing and move seamlessly on to the next thing. One minute you'll be helping a branch manager check the authenticity of a customer's ID, the next you'll be responding to alerts from our transaction monitoring system.

What Do We Need From You?

You'll need to be comfortable with working under pressure, confident in the decisions you make, and be able to gather information and articulate it clearly, concisely and accurately to succeed in the role.

Financial Crime is complex and there are constant changes in regulations, therefore you will need to be able keep up with these regulatory changes and trends.

You'll also need an understanding in:

  • Fraud Prevention
  • Anti-money laundering
  • Mortgage and Savings
  • Vulnerable Customers
