    Are you seeking a fulfilling opportunity that offers a genuine feeling of accomplishment? Utilise your skills and personalities to become a Volunteer with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and embark on a new challenge

    We are putting prevention at the heart of our Service and are looking for talented people who are passionate about engaging with our diverse communities, to help people to keep themselves safe and ensure that the most vulnerable are supported where we can.

    Our team of 40 Volunteers provide key support to service initiatives and events throughout the year (as well as self-generated campaigns) with the purpose of informing and educating people in safety at home, on the roads and outdoors, helping communities to gain skills and awareness to stay safe and live well.

    As is a uniformed role, you will be expected to represent our Service with pride whilst upholding the which underpins the culture of our organisation. Whilst the duties asked of you may to some degree reflect that of a paid member of staff, you will be working alongside compliment their efforts.

    As a volunteer in our community, you will engage with the public directly, whilst assisting our operational and support staff. There are numerous opportunities to be involved with and those activities are varied and evolving.

    Roles include:

  • Event Support
  • Safe and Well Visits
  • Wildfire Prevention
  • Water Safety and Casualties at training exercises, to name a few
  • In some circumstances such as large-scale incidents, flooding or wildfire, you may be asked to provide crucial welfare support to our crews in attendance or be a visible presence providing reassurance to members of the public.

    We are seeking to grow our already established to team by a further 10 volunteers, and also create a pool of volunteers who are able and willing to support our communities across the county of Surrey.

    You must be over 18 to apply for this role.

  • Ability to commit a minimum of 8 hrs per month.

  • Access to transportation or the ability to travel to various locations.

  • A comprehensive induction and training package to assist you in becoming an effective Community Volunteer.
  • Designated staff members and 'lead volunteers' who will serve as your main points of contact for any inquiries or concerns.
  • All necessary tools and resources will be supplied to fulfil your role effectively.
  • Full uniform
  • Reimbursement of expenses incurred relating to the Volunteering activity.
