Role:
Transport Planner (x4 roles)


Location:
Hybrid working (following 3 months office-based induction training)


  • 1 week Newcastle Shared Service Office (NE4) based.
  • 1 week Home based.

Working Hours:
Mon-Fri -8am-5pm


Salary £25,000-£32,000 depending upon experience + company bonus (up to 20% of base salary) + benefits

The business delivers plant, site accommodation, welfare facilities, portable toilets, and solar product hire needs to a wide range of customers and has an exceptional reputation for delivering service and quality.

Training and development are important to ensure that everyone is up to date with current requirements and legislation.

Key duties include:


  • Working as part of a dedicated Team, you will take responsibility for the planning and all movements of customer deliveries, collections, inbound, interdepot, site moves, events, exchanges and sales of plant and equipment.
  • Following existing processes and systems, you'll liaise with direct and 3rd party delivery suppliers to produce cost effective and accurate route schedules that meet customer needs.
  • Assessing commercial viability of customer requests, selecting the most appropriate mode/route of transport which meets customer needs, timeframes, budget versus revenue and service levels.
  • Ensuing audit trail of documentation and authorisation codes are uploaded to the systems to ensure at the end of the process invoicing is accurate to minimise queries and delays in payment/ rehire of assets.
  • Commercial awareness to understanding the costs involved throughout the process meet budget and minimise any additional costs relating to failed deliveries/collections.
  • Effective communication skills with all parties, including client to ensure they are always kept up to date and we have been made aware of any site access, time restrictions, permits required for deliver or collection.
  • Solutions focused outlook, preempting any potential risks/problems that may arise, taking ownership of any challenges or issues that arise along the journey which ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding and confirming daily activity with drivers, hauliers, depots, and customers, tracking vehicle locations to ensure routes are kept on schedule and informing of stakeholders of any incurred changes or delays.

Skills & experience required:


  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment, dealing with internal and external customers and 3rd parties to ensure customer needs are achieved and service stands consistently high.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and written with both internal and external stakeholders both verbally and by telephone
  • Taking full ownership of tasks, understanding the implications of time delays and/or queries not being resolved effectively with regarding to group asset availability, transport budgets, customer satisfaction and overall sales
  • Ability to problem solve effectively and swiftly to avoid escalation and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Enjoy learning and continuous development of product knowledge and sector legislation to always ensure full compliance.
  • Demonstrate organisational and planning skills to manage workload effectively
  • Competent IT skills and ability to learn new systems confidently
  • Experience of handling customer accounts with Service Level Agreements, with a confident and professional manner
  • A flexible approach to change and drive to continuously improve
  • Enjoy working as part of a Team in fast paced volume environment
