Description
Position Title: Hotel Operations Manager
Reports To: Hotel Manager
Location: Missenden Abbey, Buckinghamshire
Employment Type: 1-year fixed term
Job Summary
The Hotel Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that each department delivers consistently high standards of guest service while achieving business objectives and maximizing the profitability of all outlets. The role involves maintaining effective cost controls, directing main hotel operations, promoting a culture of excellence in guest care, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations alongside all Heads of Departments (HODs).
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Service Excellence:
Ensure that each department delivers a consistently high standard of guest service.
Promote a culture of excellence in guest care through a warm welcome and a desire to exceed expectations.
Address and resolve guest queries, complaints, or problems promptly and effectively.
2. Operational Management:
Plan and direct the main hotel operations including quality, standards, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
Work alongside all HODs to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
Conduct regular operations meetings with all HODs to discuss routine operational matters, departmental performance targets, and guest feedback.
Deputise for the Hotel Manager in their absence and at various meetings and events.
3. Profit Maximization:
Be responsible for maximizing profit through the consistent delivery of the highest standard of service.
Maximise financial opportunities and foster a proactive up-selling environment throughout the hotel.
4. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
Ensure consistent implementation and review of SOPs throughout all departments.
5. Health & Safety:
Conduct regular fire walks and Health & Safety audits.
Ensure that reasonable care is taken for the Health and Safety of yourself, other employees, guests, and any other persons on the hotel premises.
6. Communication & Team Management:
Promote a positive employee relations culture through effective communication and regular team meetings.
Liaise daily with the Hotel Manager and Sales and Revenue Manager to forecast hotel business on a weekly basis and plan accordingly.
Carry out Duty Management shifts as required.
7. Quality Control:
Carry out regular inspections of all departments in the areas of guest service delivery, cleanliness, presentation, service delivery, employee presentation, and grooming.
8. Monitoring & Reporting:
Monitor the hotel functions and familiarise yourself with all updates and amendments.
Provide regular updates and reports to the Hotel Manager.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel management, with at least 3 years in a similar role.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in hotel management software including, Guestline, Resdiary and MS Office Suite
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stressful situations with grace.
A proactive and positive attitude, with a commitment to excellence in guest service.
Work Environment:
This role requires flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays.
The position involves being on your feet for long periods and requires physical stamina to conduct inspections and handle various tasks around the hotel.
