    Job summary

    Moorfields Eye Hospital is looking for a Portering Team Leader.

    The post holder will require good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. Portering services include:

    Linen and laundryPostal servicesMedical gasWaste management of all waste streams and;

    General portering services to support patient movement and transfer of deliveries.

    Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust delivers services in over 30 sites. Whilst based at City Road, the role encompasses carrying out duties across the City Road campus.

    Main duties of the job

    Manage the day-to-day activity of the portering teams, in line with the appropriate policies and procedures;

    Assist the senior management team in developing and implementing relevant operational procedures and service level agreements, ensuring robust monitoring of compliance is in place and address non-compliance in line with Trust policies;

    Work closely with the Soft Services Manager & Front of House Team Leader to ensure all operational requirements for daily Portering duties are in place.

    Job responsibilities

    The portering team leader will proactively manage the day-to-day operations of the trustsportering service. Reporting to the facilities manager, the portering team leader will support theeffective and efficient delivery of services to enhance the patient experience and environment.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILTITESCommunication and relationship skills

    The portering team leader will manage the day-to-day operations of the trusts portering service.Explain change to operational processes and service demands due to business demands orlegislative change.Responsibility for patient and client careAct as the point of contact for patients, visitors and staff should issues and support patients, visitors and staff when visiting the central campus.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Educated to NVQ level in a relevant field, A Levels or equivalent experience

  • Evidence of related professional development or professional qualifications

  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrable understanding of waste management, COSHH and Health and Safety at Work
  • Experience in problem solving and assessing risk
