- 1st level Nurse Registration in either Learning Disability or Mental Health
- Degree/Diploma or experience or knowledge that is equivalent.
- Forensic Risk assessment (RSVP, HCR, START)
- Post registration training in a therapeutic / intervention approach (e.g., Applied Behavioural Analysis and Intervention, CBT).
- Good computing skills (ECDL or Similar)
- Minimum eighteen months post registration experience to include having worked with people with learning disabilities and or autism who have who offended
- Experience of communicating with people on complex matters, issues and ideas and/or in complex situations
- Experience of working with individuals who have complex needs
- Experience in the use of forensic risk assessment and management
- A good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, DOLs, Safeguarding and the legal frameworks applicable to working with offenders in a community setting
- An understanding of the Criminal Justice process
- Experience of inter agency working
- Experience of providing management and clinical supervision
- Experience working with staff teams, providing consultancy and clinical supervision
- Prior experience of ADHD, mental health, personality disorder/difficulties, dual diagnosis etc
- Demonstrate an interest in theories of offending in learning disabilities

- 6 months experience working within a community-based service
- Excellent spoken and written. communication skills

The Specialist Community Forensic Team have recently been commissioned to work with key stakeholders and partner agencies to enhance community provision for people who are autistic or who have a learning disability.
The Specialist Community Forensic Team are looking for four, Band 6 nurses to complement the existing team. Applications from enthusiastic and confident applicants who show a commitment to the wellbeing of service users and to delivering a high quality service are welcome. Ultimately, the work of the team is focused on enhancing the safety, experience and wellbeing of service users in the community.
Applications are also welcome from newly, and recently, qualified Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Nurses. Preceptorship programmes that start at band 5 and guide applicants through to band 6 are available, this would take a minimum of 12 months to complete.
The Specialist Forensic Nurse will provide consultation, specialist assessment and intervention to deliver effective, person-centred clinical services for autistic people and people with learning disabilities who have additional complex needs associated with offending or a risk of offending.
The working hours for this post will be rostered over the 7 day week, between the hours of 0800hrs and 2000hrs.
