    Default job background
    Description

    Director of Communication and Fundraising

The Director of Communications and Fundraising will be responsible for the expert running of the Trust's communications function, leading a team of committed communications, digital and fundraising professionals.

They will be tasked with informing, inspiring and motivating our staff as well as working in partnership with our stakeholders, local community and service users to instil confidence in our services as well as providing communications expertise to ensure the delivery of the Trust's operational recovery plan and overarching strategic objectives. Main duties of the job The post holder will also be responsible for raising the profile of Croydon Health Charity and ensuring delivery against a significant target income. The successful candidate will be an experienced, strategic leader with an in-depth understanding of what it takes to develop and lead high performing communications functions. The Director of Communications and Fundraising will require personal authority and sound judgement, commensurate with exercising responsibilities in proximity to the Board of the Trust, with accountability both to the Chair and Chief Executive. While not a member of the Trust Board or formally the Executive Management Board, the post holder will be required to contribute proactively to both, playing a role in giving strategic direction to the communications of the Trust. The post holder will need to develop strong relationships with communications leads in other trusts and across the South West London Integrated Care System, alongside those in other partner organisations and with the regulators regionally and nationally. In addition, the Director of Communications and Fundraising will also oversee the management and delivery of Croydon Health Charity's fundraising and marketing strategies, working with the Head of Fundraising to ensure a pipeline of charitable income and ensuring that charitable funds are utilised appropriately for the benefits of patients and staff. About us Croydon is a trailblazer in integration to join-up the health and care services available for local people and breakdown barriers between professional teams to make the most of our workforce and expertise. The Trust runs two hospitals, north and south of the borough. Its main campus, Croydon University Hospital, is home to the borough's only Emergency Department and often receives more ambulances than many major trauma centres. The hospital provides more than 100 specialist services, including 24/7 maternity care. An ongoing investment programme is also transforming the facilities available, with a dedicated new children's unit and multi-million pound intensive care unit opening in 2023. The Trust has one of the most diverse workforce profiles in the capital, with more than half of its staff from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic groups - almost twice the national average - reflecting the diverse communities it cares for. At the same time, the Trust is increasing its role as an anchor intuition at the heart of its local community. As the borough's largest employer, this includes supporting local business through kick-starters and apprenticeships to increase employment, and working with local universities to train the next generation of health and care workers in Croydon.
