You will also focus on ensuring public and patient access to protective interventions including vaccines and antibodies to address high unmet needs in infectious diseases.

  • Based on close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, define and implement multi-year global/regional/local country policy programmes with quantifiable ambitions aligned to business priorities and policy agendas that improve earlier diagnosis and patients' access to appropriate treatment and care.
  • Driving implementation against these plans, being co-accountable with priority markets to realize policy change goals at the local level.
  • Drive development of robust evidence and argumentation to support policy shaping initiatives including development of peer reviewed publications, quality standards and consensus on the case for change.
  • Setting up platforms and partnerships at the above-country level (e.g., with patient advocacy groups (PAGs), medical societies, public health experts, academia, policymakers) to facilitate high quality policy evidence-generation and collaborator engagement to support policy & advocacy programmes and objectives at local, regional, and global levels
  • Using AstraZeneca relationships with supra-national organizations and internal capabilities to advance the R&I and V&I policy & advocacy agenda.
  • Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience / track record of successful projects realized across diverse markets
  • Leadership capability with strong self-awareness and ability to identify winning strategies and solutions for multiple partners and AstraZeneca
  • Experience in developing cross-sector coalitions/partnerships (e.g. medical societies, academics, patient advocacy groups) to support policy change
  • Strategic problem solver with the ability to comprehend complex matters and chart a clear path forward
  • Self-starting, independent, entrepreneurial attitude – a smart risk-taker who thrives on new challenges and on seeing things through to completion
  • Eagerness and ability to collaborate with and mobilize different people and organizations; work effectively in a matrix organization and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to communicate highly effectively with senior leadership, peers, as well as with a variety of team members
  • When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible.
