Description
We are seeking to appoint 1 full-time permanent Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist at Nottingham University Hospitals. We have created this post to match the increasing local and regional demand for MSK imaging.
The successful applicants will share responsibility with 8 other colleagues for the provision of all aspects of MSK imaging in our Trust with possible future expansion to the Trusts within the regional network.
They will be expected to collaborate with the rest of the department to maintain and enhance a comprehensive MSK radiology service and support / develop provision of Regional Sarcoma and Local Oncology, Orthopaedics and Sports services and trauma.
The appointees will also be part of a wider team of consultant radiologists providing sub-specialty and general radiological services across the Trust.
We are a Level 1 Trauma Centre and have a large oncology and spinal practice.To provide, along with Consultant colleagues, a comprehensive elective and emergency on-call service related to MSK Radiology.
The post includes sessions for reporting time for Plain Film, MRI and CT, performing ultrasound and fluoroscopy/US/CT guided procedures and participation in multidisciplinary meetings.
The successful candidate will be expected to become an effective member of the team of MSK radiologists, to be responsible for the care of patients in their charge and to participate in teaching, research, audit and continuing professional development.

We have a reputation for a sarcoma service as well as undertaking spinal imaging including intervention .We play a vital role in the education and training of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Candidates must hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists or an equivalent qualification and must either be on the Specialist Register, or in possession of a CCT at the time of taking up the appointment.
The post will be primarily located at the Queens Medical Centre campus although the successful applicant will be required to provide sessions at the sites where we provide an MSK Radiology service.
A successful applicant would be required to be part of a dedicated MSK on call rota, which will have a frequency of 1:9.
Evidence of Level 3 Safeguarding Children (Paediatric positions only
Professional Qualifications/Development
oCompleted subspecialty training in musculoskeletal radiology
oFellowship in musculoskeletal radiology
Specific training in communication skills
Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
Able to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery.
Higher management degree or qualification or training
Personal Skills/Qualities
Able to work flexibly in a changing health service
Able to use the Trust's IT support systems
Able to teach and support junior staff effectively.
