Children with Disabilities Consultant - Leicester, United Kingdom - University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

    Default job background
    Description
There is an exciting opportunity to join the consultant team working for the Leicester Neonatal Service.

This post has been developed to support a planned expansion of neonatal cots and to provide an increase in consultant support to the neonatal service.

The Leicester Neonatal Service is currently split across 2 sites.

The Neonatal Service provides the full range of tertiary neonatal services including care for babies of all gestations, advanced modes of ventilation, neonatal surgery and close working links with the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre and the UK's largest ECMO service.

We are the lead perinatal centre for the Central Newborn Network and host the CenTre regional transport service.

The Leicester Neonatal Service provides the full range of neonatal intensive care, including babies with medical, surgical and cardiology problems.

There are currently 18 consultants, supported by a full rota of junior doctors. The team is very friendly and supportive, we have excellent working relationships with our nursing and medical colleagues.

In addition to our neonatal intensive care work, we provide specialist clinics for neonatal chronic lung disease and home oxygen, a neurodevelopment follow up service, clinics for babies with antenatal renal anomalies and multidisciplinary fetal medicine clinics.

The service is active in developing, as well as contributing, as a site recruiter to large scale national neonatal clinical research.

The job plan will be subject to annual review, with any revisions sought by mutual agreement but it is expected that the successful candidate will work with the CMG management team to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and reflect best practice with processes and governance to match - this may require new and flexible ways of working in the future.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years
    high-quality care for all,
    research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.

A special interest that complements the existing team would be helpful: opportunities exist in chronic lung disease management, risk management and governance and neurodevelopment follow up.
