    We currently offer full-time and part-time opportunities within the inpatient (Medical/Surgical), outpatient and Urgent and Emergency Care areas of Peterborough City Hospital . All of our areas have patients from mixed-gender backgrounds. Flexible working arrangements shall be considered where possible.

    Our HCA mentors will guide you in identifying an area that is tailored to your skills and long-term aspirations.

    Main duties of the job

    All the roles are permanent and offered on a full-time and part-time basis. Flexible working opportunities would be considered where possible.

    Typical shift patterns are as follows:

    Inpatient and Urgent and Emergency Care areas : 07:00 - 19:30 and 19:00 - 07:30 across all seven days of the week (including bank holidays).

    Outpatient areas : Monday - Friday between 08:00 - 18:00.

    Your daily duties will be performed under the kindly guidance of our registered staff. The main duties will vary depending on the area you will be working in. Examples may include:

    Personal care, food, personal hygiene and overall reassurance, comfort, and safety

    Help patients with their mobility

    Learn about individuals' specific needs and provide help in the most appropriate manner

    Maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable clinical environment to live and work in

    Communicate to patients and their families

    Manage stock levels for linen and other supplies

    Blood glucose monitoring

    Venepuncture and cannulation

    Wound care (including closing, cleaning, and dressing wounds as well as burns care)

    Application plaster casts and immobilisation devices

    Providing assistance with the transfer of patients to inpatient wards or diagnostic imaging.

  • Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
