    Job Summary

    Main Duties of the Job

    We're a leading MRI department seeking experienced, friendly, and enthusiastic MRI-trained radiographers to join our team. You'll work three shifts per week, rotating across our 11 MRI scanners located at Guy's, Guy's Cancer Centre, St. Thomas's, and the Evelina London Children's Hospital.

    Our department offers a wide range of MRI services including contrast studies, oncology scans, pediatric imaging, and breast imaging. We're constantly at the forefront of developing new techniques and protocols.

    We actively support the career development of our radiographers and operate 7 days a week from early morning until evening, with on-call services available after hours.

    About Us

    Our MRI department comprises 3 Superintendent Radiographers, over 50 dedicated MRI Radiographers, and a team of MRI Nursing Assistants. Join our growing team across multiple sites where you'll scan both adult and pediatric patients.

    Job Description

    Job Responsibilities

    • To assess the clinical justification of MRI referrals based on national regulations and local protocols.
    • Liaise with referral sources for clarification on appropriate imaging examinations.
    • Act as a point of advice for referrers and patients regarding imaging.
    • Ensure compliance with MRI safety guidelines and advocate for patient safety.
    • Position patients for exams, optimize image quality, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, operate advanced software, and review images for quality.
    • Participate in research scans, ensure results are communicated promptly, and maintain infection control measures.
    • Perform tasks within scope and assist in duties as needed by the Radiology Services Manager.

    Operational Responsibilities

    • Liaise with various hospital departments and external sources to provide quality service.
    • Collaborate with different staff disciplines, monitor and report system faults, and attend departmental meetings.
    • Report incidents in line with risk management policies and maintain accurate patient data records.
    • Manage workload, prioritize clinical tasks, and cover out-of-hours duties as per the roster.

    Managerial Responsibilities

    • Report equipment faults, evaluate severity, and collaborate with suppliers for timely repairs.
    • Organize work schedules in case of equipment failures, perform equipment testing, and ensure compliance with QA measures.
    • Review booking requests, conduct regular testing, and propose improvements based on data trends.

    Person Specification

    Knowledge/Qualifications

    Essential

    • Health Professions Council registration
    • Strong technical skills with problem-solving abilities
    • Comprehensive understanding of MRI safety
    • Evidence of continuous professional development

    Desirable

    • MSc in Radiography or equivalent clinical experience

    Skills

    Essential

    • Excellent communication skills
    • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
    • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and adapt to varied workflows

    • Experience in teaching, training, and research

    • Minimum of 6 months recent MRI experience with strong technical skills
