    Description

    As a Barclays Lead Engineer, you will have a unique chance to be leading great engineering across our new platform services and products.

    This will be an exciting opportunity for an experienced technologist, with a solid understanding of agile delivery methodologies and DevOps and software quality metrics to drive the delivery of our core cloud-based platform which is used by multiple client facing applications.

    We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours).

    Owning the technical development of a key, customer facing service which forms a critical part of our Digital Transformation in the Corporate Bank


    • Being a technical leader to the wider engineering team as we build the next generation of customer facing applications
    • Playing a key part in designing and engineering our new, real-time streaming applications and APIs as part of our digital transformation
    • Deep knowledge of software engineering using JVM based languages and frameworks
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in at least one of: (AWS /OpenShift etc), enterprise application programming, distributed systems, databases and Kubernetes
    • Skills that will help you in the role:
    • Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
