    The post holder will be responsible for supporting the implementation, commissioning, management, and operation of the University's new alpha radionuclide laboratory capability, including assisting development of protocols, procedures and systems for the transport, storage and safe handling of alpha bearing materials to support research activities within an academic facility. The person appointed will report to the Nuclear Compliance Team - Safety Lead and will work in the newly formed Nuclear Compliance core team, comprising the NLCM; Safety, Security, and Environmental leads; and Project Co-Ordinator, and with the associated Academic and Technical teams.

    The post holder will support the Safety Lead in discharging the University's obligations under Health and Safety Regulations, Environmental Permitting Regulations, and associated regulations. The post holder will support smooth implementation of Environmental and Radiological Safety compliance of work within the University as required.

    Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)

    As this role involves research at a postgraduate level, applicants who are not an EEA national or a national of an exempt country and who will require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the UK Visas and Immigration's (UKVI) Points Based System in order to take up the role, will be required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certificate and will need to obtain this prior to making any official visa application.)
