    Job summary

    A unique opportunity for anexperienced band 5, or newly qualified Nurse/Social Worker/OT to undertake adevelopment post, working through our competency framework towards a Band 6role. You will be supported through a programme of training and experience todevelop your understanding of trauma-informed practice and delivery of directand systemic interventions.

    The role is based within theCAMHS team embedded within Adel Beck Secure Childrens Home, home to up to 24young people, either remanded or sentenced, or placed under of theChildrens Act, 1989. You will develop skills to work alongside care andeducation professionals as part of the team around the child and influenceexternal professionals in seeking appropriate transition packages for youngpeople.

    Newly qualified staff will be supported throughPreceptorship/ASYE.

    Main duties of the job

    With support, you will be aligned to one of thehouse units (8 residents) within Adel Beck. You will be responsible forscreening assessment, risk assessment and management and care planning, as wellas the delivery of interventions to young people open to the CAMHS team. Thisincludes supporting colleagues to recognise mental health needs, completingspecialist assessment and intervention and assessment of mental healthpresentation. You will be supported through a programme of training andexperience to work as a trauma-informed practitioner.

    Maintain a high standard of clinical work whencarrying clinical duties.

    With support, Championing trauma-informed careacross the secure childrens home.

    Contribute to clinical MDT meetings and widerforums regarding the care needs of young people.

    Engage with clinical and managementsupervision.

    Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely transitionplanning, promoting the continuation of trauma-informed, formulation led care.

    Job responsibilities

    To have knowledge of current issues and research relevant to the legislative framework and systems in which childrens mental health care is delivered Children Act, Mental Health Act and Care Programme Approach.

    To contribute to service development within the clinical governance structure and policies and procedures of the Trust. Adhering to NHS guidance outlined by the relevant statutory registration bodies.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Core Profession.
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse.
  • Social Worker.
  • Occupational Therapist.
  • Or
  • Relevant professional qualification, Mental health or Learning disability nursing.
  • Membership of professional body.
  • Desirable

  • Experience of mentoring/supporting learners or ability to demonstrate the skills required for effective mentoring.
  • Or
  • Post Registration qualification degree.
  • Post graduate qualification in mental health ( CBT, Family Therapy, Counselling).
  • A teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Training

    Essential

  • Assessment and care planning skills and risk assessment and risk management.
  • Desirable

  • Relevant Post basic qualification and training.
  • Or
  • Training and experience relating to specialist CAMHS.
