    Job Description

    This role is working 4 days a week, (some flexibility in hours is available), 39 weeks per year during school term time and INSET plus 6 weeks holiday to be taken during school closure periods.

    Salary up to £45,880 (for 4 days per week) - dependent on experience

    As Speech and Language Therapist at Arc Oakbridge School, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do. You will be working with all our pupils across the primary age range, supporting the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children with communication needs. You will manage your own caseload and be expected to work flexibly, providing therapy services to pupils according to clinical need. You will be expected to actively participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, staff meetings, supervision, training and annual appraisals.

    You will have the opportunity to take an active role in the development of the learning environment and support program we offer so that we can improve and expand our offer to younger pupils and pupils who may join us with limited communication skills or being non-verbal.

    You will have:

    • a degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent,
    • UK HCPC Registration, and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
    • successful post registration practice and experience with young people
    • ideally have experience of working with children with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and young people with developmental trauma within a Trauma-Informed Model.
    • experience of managing a clinical caseload of young people with neurodiversity, social and emotional needs along
    • proven ability to carry out a range of effective speech and language therapy assessments and interventions relevant to young people with SEMH needs and neurodevelopmental disorders.
    • knowledge of and commitment to person centred practice in all stages of the speech and language therapy process
    • experience in carrying out individual and group interventions, evaluating outcomes of intervention and adapting practice accordingly
    • working closely with colleagues and carers in the identification of integrated therapy and therapy related individual objectives,
    • a working knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding Legislation and other legislation.

    Arc Oakbridge School, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist day school in central Birmingham for children and young people with autism aged between the ages of 7 and 16.
