    Osney One Building, Osney Mead, Oxford, OX2 0EW About the role The Bodleian Libraries are seeking two Senior Resource Description Assistants to join the Resource Description department. Resource Description is part of Collections Management and is based in the Osney One Building, Osney Mead. One post sits in the Foreign Cataloguing team, focussing on French and Spanish materials; the other is in the English Cataloguing team, focussing on English language materials and also materials in Celtic languages. The teams are responsible for cataloguing and classifying monographs, acquired through purchase, donation and Legal Deposit. The post-holders will be responsible for creating high quality catalogue records through copy and original cataloguing. Items required in reading rooms are classified using Library of Congress Classification as well as in-house schemes. Previous cataloguing experience may be an advantage, but full bibliographic training will be given to the right candidate. These are permanent, full-time posts. You will be considered for both roles, but you may express a preference for either role in your application. This role does not support regular working from home as you will be working with library materials. The earliest expected start date for this post is 1 August 2024. About You You will have enthusiasm and the motivation to develop high-level bibliographic skills. You will have a calm and methodical approach to work and excellent attention to detail. You will be able to work independently and in a team environment. You will have good written and spoken communication skills. Advanced reading knowledge of French and Spanish language skills is essential for the role in Foreign Cataloguing. Reading knowledge of a Celtic language such as Welsh, Breton, Irish, or Scots Gaelic will be welcomed.
