    We are very excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team of nurses and allied health professionals within the Orthopaedic department at the NNUH.


    The successful candidate will be highly motivated, adaptable, and ambitious and will help lead on development and delivery of high standards of nursing care to our elective patients within the department.


    To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH's 'PRIDE' values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

    The post holder will take responsibility for developing and overseeing an educational programme for a range of staff within Trauma and Orthopaedics.

    Develop processes to ensure staff practice competently in all aspects of Trauma and Orthopaedics and implement recording systems to indicate progress.

    You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Trust mandatory training requirements for all grades of nursing staff.


    You will work together with the current clinical educator to develop the educational team and the next 5 years plan for the department education plan.

    This year will also see the opening of our dedicated Elective Orthopaedic Centre which will include two brand new additional theatres and a 21 bedded in-patient ward.

    In the future you will also be involved in the education pathway for the department in the lead of becoming a major trauma centre.

    The orthopaedic department is a busy regional trauma centre and forward thinking department offering a range of elective and trauma care to the local community.

    We currently employ over 30 orthopaedic surgeons, some with international recognition in their specialities.

    Patients are cared for on 2 dedicated orthopaedic wards, the Orthopaedic Medical Unit, Surgical Admissions area and our dynamic outpatient department.

    This year will also see the opening of our dedicated Elective Orthopaedic Centre which will include two brand new additional theatres and a 21 bedded in-patient ward.

    To be an effective practitioner and professional role model, demonstrating the ability to confidently lead in the provision of a high quality service.

    In collaboration with other senior colleagues, to identify, support and promote nursing practice developments.

    ~ Explore creative approaches to professional development in order to meet individual learning needs.

    ~ Provide supervision, teaching and support for individuals in the clinical areas.

    ~ With nursing colleagues and multi-disciplinary team nurture the development of an environment which supports and encourages personal and professional growth.

    ~ Liaise with the Nursing Practice and Education Department re developments and needs both for Registered and Non Registered staff.

    ~ Initiate and facilitate learning opportunities within the clinical settings.

    ~ With senior nursing colleagues construct, implement and evaluate a competency-based Foundation Programme for nursing within Trauma and Orthopaedics

    ~ To support pre-registration students to achieve clinical competencies liaising with Trust Student Facilitators and UEA link tutors.

    ~ Liaise with other professional colleagues to encourage multi-disciplinary training and education.

    Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register
    ENB 100 or equivalent Teaching Qualification - eg. Significant experience at Band 6 or above
    Extensive recent experience within a comparable Critical Care setting

    Leadership qualities
    Able to inspire and motivate clinical care staff through education, support and supervision
