Background
This exciting role is based in the Human Anatomy Unit (HAU) within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences at the University of Birmingham. The HAU currently comprises facilities for teaching, including embalming, prosection and dissection, plus our Human Tissue Act (HTA) licensed small group teaching rooms within the Medical School. The HAU works with the Professor of Anatomy to maintain and enhance the student experience across all the College Programmes that require specialist anatomical education.
The post holder will form an important part of the dedicated Professional Services team supporting the HAU, as they will often be the face of anatomy to our anatomy donors, our donors' relatives and all visitors, staff and students entering the Unit.
Role Summary
You will deliver timely and high-quality administrative support in the HAU, utilising your high-level communication skills to support both the Anatomy Administrator and the whole HAU academic and professional services team. You will act as the first point of contact in both the HAU Office and for incoming telephone calls. These calls may involve talking to potential donors who would like to bequeath their bodies to the University of Birmingham and also to their relatives once the donor has passed away. Visitors to HAU may be staff of the Unit or wider university, students on our courses or external visitors, so a professional demeanour is required. You will also offer a wide range of administrative support to the HAU team.
