Pharmaceutical / Bio-tech
About AISHWARYA ARAVAMUDHAN:
Meticulous and resourceful Biomedical Scientist with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, awarded through an industrial collaboration between Autifony Therapeutics (UK). I offer a robust, cross-functional skill set including:
Molecular & cellular biology: qPCR, miRNA profiling, tissue dissociation, genotyping
Protein and biomarker analysis: Western blotting, immunodetection, biochemical assays
Advanced imaging: Confocal & fluorescence microscopy, quantitative image analysis
In vivo & translational models: Mouse handling, phenotyping, drug administration, tissue sampling
Data analysis & visualization: GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, Python (ROI analysis), statistical interpretation
Research project management: Cross-sector collaboration, scientific communication, experimental design
With training across academic (King’s College London, UK , University of Utah, USA) and industry settings, I excel in bridging scientific research with real-world application. I am driven by a strong commitment to innovation, therapeutic development, and improving patient outcomes. I am now seeking to contribute my experience and skills to dynamic, purpose-driven teams in biotech, pharma, or translational research environments.
Experience
I am a Research Scientist with an Industrial PhD in Biomedical Sciences, completed in collaboration with Autifony Therapeutics (UK) and the University of Padova (Italy). Over the past few years, I’ve developed strong expertise in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and in vivo preclinical drug studies, with a specific focus on neuromuscular diseases such as SBMA and ALS. My doctoral work explored the role of potassium channels in neurodegenerative disease models, where I led preclinical studies and contributed to both academic and industry-driven insights.
Currently, I am working at the Cancer Institute Adyar, where I am gaining experience in cancer immunology and translational research. I work on preparing samples for single-cell RNA sequencing and isolating TILs for adoptive cell therapy in breast and cervical cancer studies. This has broadened my perspective and equipped me with versatile skills applicable to both academia and industry.
I bring hands-on experience with RT-PCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy, and various animal handling techniques. I am proficient in data analysis using GraphPad Prism and ImageJ, and I enjoy collaborating across disciplines to translate scientific findings into real-world applications. My long-term goal is to contribute meaningfully to R&D teams in biotechnology or pharmaceutical settings, where I can apply my background and grow further as a translational researcher.
Education
I hold an Industrial PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Padova, conducted in collaboration with Autifony Therapeutics (UK), where I focused on the pathophysiology of potassium channels in neuromuscular diseases. I also completed an MSc in Neuroscience from King’s College London, with a specialization in neurodegeneration, and earned a BTech in Genetic Engineering from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, during which I was a visiting scholar at the University of Utah (USA).
