Employment history

Mental health support worker

-  Working in this role can be incredible stressful due to working with young people during crisis points. Although I work well under pressure, this role has taught me how to remain calm in tough situations that can be highly emotional for everyone involved.

-  Safeguarding is an important part of this job and through training and experience I have learned how to develop a trusting relationship with a young person in order to help them with their trauma, be it current or historical. I have a good understanding of when something a young person has mentioned would need to be reported and how to support them through this situation.

-  As someone on the autism spectrum, I already had some awareness of how to support those with this con- dition through sensory needs and accommodations in general. Through the Priory I have trained on mul- tiple occasions as to how a young person with ASC can be best supported, as well as those who need accommodations in place to protect their wellbeing and promote independence.

-  A big part of this job is time keeping, as through being allocated observations you have to ensure that you remain on time with your checks for the safety of the young people. Time keeping and remaining fo- cussed is a big strength of mine.

Skills-

- Visual- I an extremely visual person due to having synesthesia/chomesthesia. I see art and music as colours, temperatures and physical senses which enhances my ability to have a unique creative flair to my work.

- The ability to adapt to the ever-changing environment- I enjoy no day being the same!

- Management experience and key organisational skills.

- Comfortable with being outspoken for the little guy- I am extremely passionate about diversity being a key infrastructure of any work environment.

- Social- I love to network and expand relationships with people, having little issue with starting and engaging in conversations to start new relationships.

-Adaptation- I haven't lived at home since I was 13 due to training in music and theatre, meaning I have worked in London, Berlin, Leeds and Manchester. I enjoy the challenge of working in new environments!
