Robert Gilliland

Within this role I am employed as an Advanced Engineer within the Yorkshire area. This role includes provision of
complex ethernet tasks to provide a fitbre directly to a customer this includes utilising the underground network safely
accessing the overhead network, utiising civils avoidance tools such as overblow and overblow over the legacy
blown fibre tubing providing and jointing spines using the existing and new ribbon splicing techniques, supporting
other patches delivering fitbre circuits and helping to fault find within the network. I can think outside the box to
overcome any problems in delivery of service with quality and safety always at the forefront of my mind. I have also
worked on fibre build programmes building a full new fibre network to the Holmfirth area as part of the initial pilot this
has then been replicated in other areas throughout Yorkshire. I understand and have worked on the whole end-to-
end process on fibre build and ethernet provision. In recognition of this I have received numerous awards such as
engineer of the month for Yorkshire and the Advanced engineer Award during an event held at Elland Road football
stadium.

Covered senior engineer and project Co -Ordinator role (ethernet and fibre build)
Fault finding capability on the fibre network.
Changeover of legacy nodes using ribbon splicing to free up capacity of the network.
Assisting transmission engineers to ensure as litle down time for customers
Testing the network for relevant readings to ensure the required network quality is achieved.
Overblow on new and legacy blown fibre tubing.
Blowing 4,12 and the new 24 Fibre bundles over substantial distances.
Reworking poorly planned job

Updating records correctly to ensure future provision capability is accurate.
