Springfields Therapeutic Children's Home is "Good"

Following a full inspection by Ofsted on 31st January & 1st February 2024, and the publication of the final inspection report, we are pleased to congratulate the adults and children of Springfields Therapeutic Children's Home on achieving the Ofsted judgement of Good in All Areas.
"The care and support that children receive are consistently good. The staff provide child-centred and highly nurturing care. As a result, children feel supported and part of a family-type home."
"Staff ensure that care and support plans for children provide a comprehensive picture and sense of the child, their uniqueness and needs. Staff understand the importance of reading and updating these plans to ensure that children receive up-to-date, individualised care. Consequently, the staff have been able to help the children make important progress from the time they move into the home."
"The registered manager and senior leaders are committed to ensuring that the children receive the care and support that they need. They lead the staff team well to ensure that their vision is shared by the staff."
"The manager is very experienced. Staff and professionals describe her as approachable. She and the deputy manager value staff and have worked hard to create a relaxed and happy atmosphere at the home. Staff are encouraged to see their jobs as a career and are given opportunities to progress in the organisation."

Hillfields Therapeutic Children's Home is Requires Improvement to be Good

On 7th and 8th November 2023, Hillfields Therapeutic Children's Home received the Ofsted judgement of Requires Improvement to be Good. This inspection occurred at a time of transition for the home and coincided with the departure of the previous registered manager and the arrival on the 1st November 2023 of the new registered manager. An assurance visit took place on 1st February 2024. The inspector confirmed that they "did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection."
"Following changes to practice implemented by the manager, and improved management monitoring and oversight, the quality of care provided to children has improved."
"Children speak very positively about living at the home. They say that there is nothing they would change and that they can speak to adults working in the home if they have any worries or concerns. Adults provide children with safe opportunities to discuss the things that matter most to them and help them to make sense of their feelings and emotions."
"Children and adults speak very positively about the impact that the manager has on the home. One adult said that they feel empowered by the manager's calm presence and consistent approach."
"The manager welcomes feedback from external sources. Criticisms and comments about the service are seen as an opportunity to learn, reflect and improve. All the requirements and recommendations made at the last inspection have been met."

Westfields Children's Home is Good in All Areas...Again

Following a full and thorough inspection by Ofsted on 16th-17th May 2023, and the publication of the inspection report, we are again extremely pleased to congratulate the adults and children of Westfields Children's Home on achieving the Ofsted judgement of Good In All Areas for the fifth time in succession.
"The children's home provides effective services that meet the requirements for good."
"Children are cared for by a skilled group of adults who know them well. Children are treated with kindness and respect. They make good progress because they feel safe and develop positive relationships with each other and adults."
"Meaningful joint working between adults in the home and children's schools provides children with consistency and stability. A head of year told the inspector, 'Communication is fantastic."
"The home is run as a therapeutic community, and this supports children to make good progress in relation to their emotional well-being."
"The manager is experienced and is working towards the necessary qualification as required by The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015. He is well supported by the deputy manager. They, and adults working in the home, have high expectations for what children can achieve and are proud of the progress that children are making."
"Managers make good use of the independent person's reports and an external adviser's quality assurance reports to inform service developments."
