    Job summary

    Following significant investment into the communityhospitals wards we have an exciting opportunity to join our team. We areseeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Assistant to joinour therapy rehabilitation team based at Weardale Community Hospital.

    Applicants must be prepared to participate in a 6 day weekservice, covering bank holidays and Saturdays on a rota basis.

    The post is based at Weardale community hospital; successfulapplicants will be based predominantly at one site but, may be required to workat other community hospital sites in the Trust.

    Main duties of the job

    This is an exciting role with a great deal of patientcontact and opportunities to increase and consolidate both skills and knowledge.You will work under direct supervision of the senior Occupational therapistsand Physiotherapists.

    The post will combine competencies from physiotherapy andoccupational therapy disciplines, to support the delivery of the therapyservices to patients within a community rehabilaition ward setting.

    We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Minimum of 4 GCSE level C, or equivalent, including English Language
  • NVQ Level 3 in relevant area, diagnostic and Therapeutic Care or Care or working towards or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages

    • Desirable

  • An understanding of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, its culture, strategic direction, achievements and NHS standing

    • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of working with adults
  • Recent and relevant band 2 assistant experience within rehabilitation in a related clinical specialism within the NHS

  • Able to work as part of team
  • Able to observe and record physical and social changes in patients
  • Able to identify when to report to a registered therapist
