The GovNet Education Portfolio includes a wide array of content, brands and events including:

The Schools & Academies Shows; two B2B exhibitions taking place in London and Birmingham and attracting 3,000 attendees, 150 speakers and 200 exhibitors at each event.

These two events are the largest within GovNet and bring together senior leaders fromSchools with leading School Suppliers.

The IG Schools portfolio of highly topical and policy driven education forums and training courses.

Across the year, IG Schools run 20+ dedicated events for primary and secondary education, varying in size from 30 paying delegates up to 300.


The Independent Schools Conference which takes place every November and brings together 30+ exhibitors, 300+ paying delegates in order to meet, network and tackle the biggest challenges facing independent schools in the UK.


The Schools & Academies Show Webinar, Podcast and Blog Series are a range of content sources we use to communicate with the education sector and provide our community with up to date and relevant policy and topic updates.


The Role


The role of Head of Content includes taking responsibility for the production of all content for the education portfolio from the initial stages through to speaker sourcing and management, as well as writing and contributing to podcasts, webinars and blogs.


Specifically, the Schools & Academies Shows are well known dates within the education calendar, and you will have full access to our existing relationships with key education stakeholders including; speakers, government bodies, industry associations andmore.

Your role will be key in maintaining many of these relationships, sourcing, building new partnerships and relationships with organisations that benefit the shows.


The thorough research delivered should be used to ensure we provide innovative, year-round content that attracts visitors and aligns with the commercial objectives of the portfolio and our exhibitors and delegates.

As Head of Content you will be responsiblefor management and progression of junior producers within the team, and there will be an emphasis on growing and training the team.


Main Duties & Responsibilities

Research and event strategy

  • Responsible for ongoing extensive and indepth industry and commercial research via telephone, online and inperson to ensure that the events' strategic development is correctly aligned with market wants, needs and developments, supported by the juniorproducer.
  • Work with the Head of Marketing to build accurate event audience profiles, and utilise these to inform marketing and sales strategy.
  • Oversight of the production of all event content elements including theatre programmes, sponsor sessions, written and online content, and partner content, with the wider Content Team responsible for the majority of production and delivery.
  • Working with the Portfolio Director, undertake strategy related analysis, research and commercial feasibility assessment projects to develop and grow the event portfolio.
  • Produce and deliver event briefings, together with the wider Content Team, to brief the sales and marketing teams.
  • Management of competitor event tracking processes and analysis to create own event USPs.

Stakeholder management

  • Develop and maintain close and effective relationships with partner organisations, clients and speakers from both public and private sectors, to increase collaboration
  • Participate in client facing meetings as required by Portfolio Director and Sales Team.
  • Play a key role in management of the relevant steering committees and panels for events within the portfolio.

Content Production, Marketing and Copy Writing

  • Oversight of the delivery of all exhibition content elements including speaker recruitment and engagement, onsite theatre programme delivery, written and online content, and partner content, with the Junior Producer responsible for the majority of deliveryand engagement
  • Support marketing team on content marketing initiatives which involve speakers such as blogs, Q&A's and insight pieces

General Management

  • Management of project deadlines for each event.
  • Managing Content Team by conducting regular 121's, performance reviews and working with the Portfolio Director to ensure team progression and growth.
  • Budget management for speaker and partner engagement and collaboration.

Experience & Skills required for the role

  • Essential _
  • At least 2 year's proven track record in event content management.
  • Strong commercial understanding and ability to understand the commercial implications of public policy.
  • Experience in using content management systems (websites)
  • Desirable _
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Understanding of project management principles, techniques and tools
  • Interest in and understanding of the Education Sector
